Spiced Rum Cider

Spiced Rum Cider Recipe

Warm apple cider gets a generous pour of spiced rum along with cinnamon and a few whole cloves simmered right in for a drink that smells like a candle you'd want to bottle. It's sweet, warming, and comes together in one pot with almost no effort. A cinnamon stick garnish and an orange wheel make it look as good as it smells, and it's the easiest thing to serve in mugs at any outdoor gathering where guests need something to hold onto. This is the drink for a backyard tree lighting, a fire pit hangout, or any cold night where people need to warm their hands.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick plus more for garnish
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 orange sliced into wheels
  • 6 oz spiced rum

Method

  1. Combine the apple cider, cinnamon stick, cloves, and a few orange slices in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat and cook for about 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in the spiced rum, or add it directly to individual mugs.
  4. Ladle into mugs, straining out the spices if preferred.
  5. Garnish with a fresh orange wheel and cinnamon stick.
